Stepped out on the porch for two minutes and ended up standing there for twenty. The moon came up huge and orange behind a bank of clouds, low enough over the ridge that for a while it looked like it hadn't decided whether to clear the mountain or not.
No trucks, no dogs, nothing moving on the hillside — just that light working its way up slow, turning the ridge line orange for a few minutes before it climbed high enough to go pale and ordinary again.
